Welcome to my practice! I absolutely love orthodontics. Meeting people, learning their life stories and working with an excellent staff, all in a caring, friendly, and fun filled environment is my passion. I find that a joy-filled, light hearted clinic environment is very important for excellent patient care. Making a difference in people’s lives is one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
Education and Academics
I received my bachelor degrees at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and my DDS at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where I developed an interest in orthodontics, facial embryology and clinical care for patients with facial birth defects. I completed my Orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa, where, as part of the National Institutes of Health Dentist-Scientist program, I also earned my PhD. I taught in the Orthodontic Department at the Ohio State University for 5 years before being recruited back to Orthodontic Department at the University of Iowa where I achieved the rank of full professor. After 20 successful years in academic Orthodontics, I am dedicating my career to full-time patient care, because I’m a clinician at heart.
My goal is to give my patients excellent care using state of the art technologies with a personalized approach. I believe each person is unique – both in their qualities and world view. I have a deep compassion for the lives of others and welcome people of all walks of life. I will take the time to know and understand you so that I can meet your unique dental health needs while providing you with a beautiful smile.
To provide my patients with the latest technology and treatment choices, I attend continuing education courses year-round. My patients deserve the best, and continuing education allows me to provide patients with more options, better results and faster treatment times. In addition to going to professional conferences, I have given numerous continuing education lectures to other orthodontists.
Outside of the Office
I grew up in the close-knit, small town of Rhinelander in Northern Wisconsin. I spent summer vacations at Lake Michigan and many trips visiting Algoma, Wisconsin, a small fishing community on the Lake where my father grew up. I come from a large family consisting of 6 sisters and me. I have 3 wonderful children of my own. People describe me as being honest, hard-working and genuine. I’m known for being deeply compassionate about the lives of others. I believe bringing a smile to someone during their day brings warmth to both their heart and mine. I look forward to working with you and your family.
Of course, everyone knows Ruthann. She’s been with the practice for over 20 years and lived in Rockford for even longer.
In her own words, “I love to greet our patients with a welcoming smile as they arrive at our office. I help schedule patient appointments and coordinating patient care. I enjoy helping and serving our patients and their families in any way I can. I love connecting with people! It is so rewarding to celebrate with our patients and families the beautiful smiles we create together!
I am blessed with a wonderful husband of 40 years, three awesome daughters and two amazing grandchildren! My greatest desire is to live a life that honors God and blesses and encourages others. I enjoy the outdoors and love camping and hiking in the mountains. I also love spending quality time with family and friends.”
Ruthann brings Joy to all those coming into this clinic :)
Diane brings to the office an education in Business Information Systems, and also Medical Insurance billing and coding. She brings 15 years of experience in the health care field including most recently in an orthodontic office before joining Lidral Orthodontics. My experience includes 6+ years as a medical coder/ biller before changing over to the orthodontic field in 2012.
My husband and I relocated to Grand Rapids in 2012. After visiting the area often, we decided we would like to be part of the great downtown area and proximate Lake Michigan activities. We have 2 adult daughters. The oldest one and family (our only grandchild) live in Florida and the other daughter joined us in Grand Rapids.
I’ve had the privilege of joining this team In July 2017, as Accounts Receivable/ Insurance Coordinator and Scheduler. I believe that Dr. Lidral has built a strong team and this practice brings growth opportunity, professional service and great asset to the Rockford area.
It’s a Pleasure to have Diane be part of Lidral Orthodontics
Renae has been working at Lidral Orthodontics since October 2017. She brings 6 years of orthodontic assisting experience and an additional 9 years as a dental assistant. She obtained her Dental assistant training at the Olympia Career Training Institute in Grand Rapids.
Most recently she worked as a receptionist for our neighbors, the Center for Oral Surgery and Dental Implants where she gained invaluable knowledge about the front office aspects of a dental clinic. She enjoyed her job, but dearly missed directly interacting with patients in the clinic. We’re lucky she was ready for a change and she by far and above was the top applicant to be a new addition in our clinical department.
In addition, she also manages our clinical inventory and is our instrument specialist. She’s our Eveready bunny that gets a lot of things done behind the scenes.
I’m a Rockford native and love that I’ve been able to return to work in my hometown. I have two wonderful boys that both play hockey, baseball and golf, so I’m a bit of a sports mom. I love the outdoors, spending time with family and walks with my lovable labradoodle, Rocky. My faith and family are what pull me through life.
Renae is a Proven Asset on the Team
Deb brings a diverse set of skills, including 20 years of orthodontic assisting experience. She is a both a licensed Registered Dental Assistant and an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. Furthermore, she has taught dental assisting at the College level, most recently as an adjunct professor at Grand Rapids Community College. Moreover, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
As both the treatment coordinator and an assistant, she strives to understand patient needs and guide them through the transition into treatment. In addition, she is our infection control compliance officer, a position she held at GRCC. Most rewarding for her are building relationships with patients, family and the community.
In my free time, I enjoy time with my husband and children along with friends. I love being outdoors and attending home designer shows. My native state is Ohio, but I’m happy to call beautiful West Michigan my home. Two of my children attend Rockford High School.
We’re enthusiastic to have Deb be on the team!
Sam brings 9 years of Dental Assisting experience. In addition she is Registered Dental Assistant, which is quite the accomplishment since it requires additional education and successfully passing the rigorous State of Michigan examination.
I assist in providing care for our patients in the clinical area. In addition, she is the practice OSHA compliance officer, a position she held at her previous job. What Sam loves most about working here is getting to know our patients and helping them enhance their smiles.
I enjoy spending time with my two kids and amazing husband. We love to camp and spend time on our beautiful farm where we raise cattle that sometimes get loose. We also grow corn and beans, plus we have an odd duck or two. I love to be outdoors, walking and enjoying what Michigan has to offer.
We’re excited to have her join the team! :)
